Questions
Which rate is this?
The closing rate of the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) as published by the Central Bank of Nigeria. The NFEM is the official market where banks and authorised dealers trade dollars; the CBN publishes its closing, high, low and weighted-average rates for each business day.
Why is my bank's or a BDC's rate different?
Banks, bureaux de change and transfer services set their own prices and add a margin and fees. The CBN figure is a reference point for the official market, not a price you can get over the counter. Why rates differ.
When does the rate update?
The CBN publishes figures for each business day, sometimes a day or more after the day they are for, and none for weekends or public holidays. We check the CBN every hour and always show the date the CBN gave the figure.
Can I buy US dollars on LagosXchange?
No. LagosXchange publishes rate information only. We do not buy, sell, hold or transfer money of any kind, and we give no advice.
